A castle fit for a prince... A 1 year old prince!

I posted a couple of days ago with my first attempt at modeling chocolate. This is part two. The cake the horse and knights belong to. I'm really pleased with how this cake turned out. It's bright and full of detail. The modeling chocolate figures really add some punch!

This is a marble cake and feeds a little over 100. It has whipped chocolate ganache filling. Yummy!!!

Bowling Party Cake for Peter and Eme!

My boys were invited to a bowling party this weekend for two of their friends. Mom wanted a cake to go with the bowling theme and of course be universal for a boy and a girl. Love how fun it turned out! Happy Birthday Peter and Eme!!!

My modeling chocolate debut... A tasty and very rewarding medium

If you are into caking, you've heard about modeling chocolate. If you watch shows like Cake Boss, Ace of Cakes, Ultimate Wedding Cakes or Food Network Challenge, you've likely seen it in action.

Why it took me so long to jump on the bandwagon, I will never know. I can speculate, but what's the point. What I do know, is that it is well worth the effort to make a batch and then create!

A client ordered a 1st Birthday Cake for her son for this weekend. She is doing a Regal themed event complete with the Prince's Castle. She wanted knights, prince, horse, castle... Bright and fun for her son's 1st Birthday.

Horses aren't that easy. They have spindly little legs that are very difficult to keep straight so I knew it was time to try my hand at modeling chocolate. I went to ehow.com to find out how to make it (the internet is a fantastic resource). Here's the link if you are interested: http://www.ehow.com/how_5226271_make-recipe-cake-dessert-decorating.html.

And here is the debut of my first attempt. I made white modeling chocolate and dark modeling chocolate. The white is definitely softer. Not sure why, but it worked perfectly for my knights. I'll post the castle when it's done and delivered.

Bridal Shower Lavendar and Shell Theme Cake

This cake was made for one of my husband's colleagues daughter's. Her bridal shower is today and mom wanted a special cake for the occasion. We used the wedding invitation as inspiration for the cake. I just love the look of the shells.

Congratulations Alison!

Confirmation Cake and Cookies for a special young lady...

This is the first time I was asked to make cookie party favors to go along with the cake. I really enjoyed the project and I'm so pleased with how both the cake and the cookies turned out. This was a custom order all the way. I think I'll have to add a new page on my website just for party favors. I could get into this.

Ava's 1st Birthday Topsy Turvey Mad Hatter Tutu-a-rific Puppy Cake!

I know, it's a crazy long title but how else can you describe this cake? It turned out sooo cute! I just love it.

Meet little Ava.
She's turning 1 and Mom gave me this photo along with photos of her dogs so I could sculpt them and put them on her first Birthday Cake. This is a mini little cake. Just a 6" base and a 4" top cake. It's double chocolate with buttercream.

So fun and adorable for an adorable little girl! Ava's mom is Caitlin Domanico of Caitlin Domanico Photography. Check out her website HERE! She's a fabulous photographer. Especially if you want some timeless pics of your little ones!

Cupcake Whimsy... a super fun theme cake for a little cupcake!

Vanilla pound cake with homemade strawberry filling. Can I just tell you how yummy that filling is?!?!?! My husband taste tested it for me and bypassed the grape jam on his peanut butter and jelly sandwich so he could have strawberry filling instead! And no, it does not taste anything like store bought jam, it's soooo much yummier!

This cake was a first for me. I used the party supplies as inspiration for the cakes design but wanted a whimsical theme so I carved the cakes to have a little more of a wonky-whimsy feel. (I know that's not a word, but it is descriptive of the look I was aiming to achieve.)

I really like how it turned out. It is fun, girly, and whimsical. Perfect for a First Birthday! Happy Birthday Little Cupcake!
