This is my kind of bridal shower cake!

Can I tell you how much I LOVE this cake? Well, I will, because I DO! It's no secret I love girlie things or that I love to try new techniques. So this was a really fun cake for me because it involved both!

I got to make some new molds, and even got my husband in on it by having him custom make me a piece to make a mold from. Everything on this cake is edible except for the support in the gift box lid.

The shoe is made from sugar paste, the diamond ring is sugar, and the bra is also sugar paste. I think the bra was the hardest part just because it is several pieces of sugar paste pieced together and I didn't have a pattern. It was trial and error to create my own pattern but I really do love the end result. It is tasteful and romantically pretty.

Thanks for stopping by!

Purple & Silver Bridal Shower Cupcake Tree & Monogram Cookies

Bridal Showers are always so much fun. All the excitement and frill of a wedding without the stress. And this was a sweet order for me since I babysat for the bride when she was a child... Amazing how quickly time flies and how easily others can make us feel old just by celebrating major events in their own lives.

Congratulations Stephanie!

Sarah's Birthday Cake

This is my nieces Birthday Cake. I had a lot of fun making it although the humidity gave me a run for my money! I wanted a fun cake so instead of just plopping the puppies on the cake, I had them wreaking havoc by digging into it. This is the first cake I've covered in fondant that was iced with Italian Meringue Buttercream. It's much more challenging that covering a cake that has been iced in classic buttercream. Guess I'll have to make more of these so I can get more practice!

What a wonderful reception this cake got! I'm so pleased with how much Sarah loved her cake. If I make a custom cake for my niece's or nephew's, they don't get a gift. The cake IS the gift. But it is their choice (or their parents if they are too young). When I asked Sarah if it was worth it to get a cake instead of a gift, I got a very enthusiastic "yes!".
