Ford Mustang Car Cake

A friend of mine thinks I'm nuts because I actually enjoy car cakes. From Monster trucks to regular cars, I truly enjoy the creative process. There's something satisfying to start with layers of cake and carve it away to reveal a sculpture beneath. But it doesn't end there... then starts the process of laying Fondant down on the clean pallet and building it up to reveal the ridges, curves, and details that bring the car to life. When it is all said and done, if you know what kind of car it is without having to be told, I did my job! If you can't... well.... we won't talk about that!

I hope you enjoy! Have a wonderful Memorial Day weekend and don't forget to say a prayer for those who have given up so much to ensure the liberties we enjoy on a daily basis.

A fat little pup for a Pug lover.

I made this little guy as a favor for my friend. Her mom's Birthday is coming up and she's making a cake for her but wanted a little something special to add to it.

Her mom has 4... count it 1, 2, 3, 4 PUGS! Talk about a house full! And she loves each and every one of these little flat faced pups. So it is only appropriate that her cake be adorned by her favorite dog.

Hot Pink Princess Party Cake

This is the final order of the weekend. It included not only the cake pictured below but 11 party cakes for the guests to decorate. Each girl gets a 4" round cake covered in hot pink fondant. The package includes edible sugar gems, fondant pieces, and other decorations for the kids. It's a fun party for a generation that is WOWed by all the cake shows on cable TV.

Happy Caking!

Little Monkey Gift Box Baby Baptism Cake

It was a busy weekend. Here's the 3rd of 4 cake orders this weekend. The inspiration came from a cake I did for this client's friend a while back and the bedding in the baby's room. We combined the monkey with the gift box and the result is even cuter than I had imagined. I love it when an idea comes together.

SYR Graduation Cake

This is a graduation cake for a Syracuse University Student. Well, technically I don't know if it is a high school graduation and the graduate is going to SYR or if this is a college graduation from SYR. Either way... *wink* You get the idea!

A couple of cake toppers for this weekend.

Yesterday was a very busy day. I worked on cake details from morning to night. Here are 2 of the pieces I worked on yesterday.

The first is for a baby shower cake and the topper matches the invitation.

The second is a cake topper for a graduation cake.

I'm really happy with how they both turned out but I have to admit I'm partial to the bassinet. I just LOVE how cute it turned out.

Don't forget to enter the drawing for the apron. Contest ends tonight at midnight EST. All you have to do is comment on the Apron Post and tell me why you want one. :)

Have a super sweet day!

I'm totally in love with my new apron AND you could WIN ONE!!!

I know... how can you be in love with an apron? But I AM! I don't know why but I've had such a hard time finding one. I opened shop in November and have been searching for an apron ever since. I wanted one that would kind of double as a quasi-uniform for various events. BUT I also wanted practical.

If you are anything like me, you go through lots of towels in the kitchen. Either they are sopping wet because you wash your hands so many times or you end up with piles of half used towels because you walk around with them and then they aren't handy when you need them.

Check out what this lady did. She made a half apron with snap on towels!!! I love, love, love it! I also purchased 3 replacement towels so that as I work, I can just replace the towel if I make too big of a mess of it. But now I ALWAYS have a towel handy when I need it! And these are made for REAL women too. Because you know I taste what I make! (wink)

And as a bonus, she also has great tie back headbands to keep your hair back. Which is a requirement in the food industry. So now I have a coordinated look that matches my shop colors and is amazingly practical.

Now onto the drawing!!!

You have two weeks to enter. The deadline is Saturday, May 22nd! All you have to do is comment on this post and tell me why you want the apron. You MUST provide your e-mail address so we can contact you if you win.. The winner will be announced ON THIS WEBSITE, Monday, May 24, 2010.

Baptism Cake for a little miracle.

This is a very special occasion cake. Mom and Dad had to get some help to get this little angel so she holds a particularly special place in their hearts. After years of trying, they got their miracle so her baptism is a momentous occasion. Mom wants it to be a day to remember. So she ordered an extra special cake. Congratulations Lily!

A Graduation Cake for a Dental Student. Root Canal Anyone???

This is too funny. I got call from a client that said she was searching the internet looking for local cake shops to get her daughter a cake for her Dental School Graduation. She happened to find my site and was browsing around and said "WAIT, I KNOW HER!". We go to church together and I've known her for about 5 years. Too funny! Glad you found us Jackie!

Grave Digger Monster Truck Birthday Cake

A year ago I made a Blue Thunder Monster Truck for my oldest son's Birthday. We had such a blast making it. And of course with 2 boys in the home and Monster Jam on the television several mornings a week before school, we knew we'd have more monster trucks to build.

My youngest really enjoys Grave Digger. I'm not sure if it is the truck itself that he likes or the entertainment factor we get when we watch these guys on the track. Either way, Braden wanted Grave Digger and my husband was convinced we could do a monster truck bigger and better than last time.

It was worth every second when the little man came into the room while I was finishing up and told me his cake was "AWESOME!! And better than Garrick's cake." ha ha A little sibling rivalry...

Anyway, we had fun making it. My husband did the frame work and I did the baking, carving, and decorating. I'd say we make a pretty good team.

So... here's Garrick's Blue Thunder Monster Truck Cake from last year and here is Braden's Grave Digger Monster Truck from today.

To give it a little perspective, I'm adding a shot the photographer (my Dad, and Braden's PopPop) took of Braden with his cake.
