A Plethora of Pretty Cakes

It's been crazy busy lately! So many wonderful and exciting things happening and so many late nights trying to keep up with it all. One day soon I plan to get some sleep! ha ha

In the meantime, I'll enjoy this phase of my life and thank God for the excitement and the adrenaline rush to keep me moving when I should be a zombie from lack of sleep.

Here are several of my recent cakes. It's kinda cool that I really like most of them. As decorators, even if the cake turns out the way the customer wanted, we sometimes just aren't "feelin' it" and when that happens, we just feel kinda "blah". But I've gotten some great orders lately. Bright, fun, and pretty. And well...it's no secret that I like pretty cakes!

Thanks for stopping by!

Popular Prints for a Trendy Cake!

Animal print cakes are all the rage right now and Zebra Stripes are probably THE MOST popular of all the prints chosen. There is something striking, crisp, and bold about those stripes. No matter what color background they appear on, they always seem to look good! And I've certainly done my share of zebra stripes.

This weekend it was a Sweet 16 in Teal, Black, & White. The Birthday Girl is a Soccer Fanatic so we also worked in a custom topper that coordinated amazingly well (black and white).

I thought this would be a good time to show you how many different looks can be achieved with zebra stripes. These are some of the cakes I've done! Enjoy!

Slay the Dragon!!!

I had a client contact me about a cake for her daughter's Sweet 16 and she was looking for a Jabberwocky. They were planning an Alice In Wonderland theme Birthday Party and wanted to be able to "slay the dragon" at cake time. She was also looking into getting Petit Fours with labels that say "eat me", etc. Really cute idea. The Jabberwocky... Not so cute! This was the first time I spoke to a cake while I was working on it and told it to stop creeping me out. HA!

This is the second dragon cake I've done in a few months for a Sweet 16. I don't know... I always thought of a Sweet 16 as a sort of Prissy/Frilly event. I guess I'm wrong. Dragons seem to be the in thing.

Meet the Jabberwocky!
