Pink Mitzvah

WOW! WOW! WOW! When I walked into the Banquet Room at Hamilton Farms to delivery this cake, I was speechless! Not sure who the event planners were, but they did a stellar job! The overall feel was elegant, pink, fun, and girlie! And the perfect backdrop for this Bat Mitzvah Cake.

And I do so very much love this cake. I made lots of anemone flowers for it, including custom candle holders around the base of the bottom tier. And made a rhinestone plaque for the top tier with Daryn's name on it.

Each tier is a different flavor and filling combination to allow plenty of variety for the guests.

Romantic Roses 60th Anniversary Cake

Made for the parents of a very good friend of ours. It's shorter than a standard #2 pencil. Pound Cake with homemade raspberry filling. Iced in buttercream and covered with fondant. I LOVE this cake. As a kid I used to sculpt tiny roses out of clay and make jewelery. So it was somewhat nostalgic to sit and make tiny roses again. They are all about the size of a child's fingertip.

Happy Anniversary Mr. & Mrs. D!!! 60 years is quite an accomplishment and I'm so glad I was able to make your cake for you!

Sweet 16... Zebra Stripe Cake

Here's the cake I did this morning for The Town Crier. There will be a 16 in the same cherry color on the top of the cake that was still drying when I left so it isn't on the top but you get the idea.

3 layers. I WISH I could be at this party when they eat the top tier. Black buttercream... Oh, the photo opportunity you'd have to be there with a camera taking photos of people with big toothy smiles after eating that! Greenish Black Teeth!!! What I wouldn't give to see it! For my friends, family, and fellow blog followers, make a mental note NEVER to get a whole cake iced in black buttercream! Unless of course you are serving toothbrushes and toothpaste with the cake!

Forget-Me-Knot

The past three Saturday's I've left my home at 8:30am to drive into South Philly's, Italian Market. There's a fantastic kitchen supply/cooking store called Fante's. In the back of the store, there's a little room where a very talented Debbie Lang, teaches Cake Decorating. I decided to sign up for the Advanced Cake Decorating course to brush up on some of my skills and learn some new ones.

Our final class was today and therefore, our final cake was due. All the prep work had to be done ahead. I piped all my flowers ahead, made the monogram, and the arbor, and also baked, torted, and iced the cake.

This cake has alternating vanilla and chocolate layers with Strawberry filling and it is covered in a dark chocolate buttercream. The flowers are made out of royal icing and the butterflies are made from unbreakable gel.

Allie's Dora the Explorer 3rd Birthday Cake

Made this cake for my niece's Birthday. She's turning 3 and just loves Dora the Explorer. It's 2 - 10" layers. Bottom layer is chocolate and the top layer is vanilla. The filling is cookies and cream butter cream. It is iced in butter cream with fondant accents. This is my second Frozen Butter Cream Transfer (FBCT).

My youngest who is 2 months older than Allie also loves Dora so it was like pulling teeth keeping him away from this cake. You know how an excited 3 year old loves to flail around! Talk about mommy having an anxiety attack.

Spring Garden

This was a gift for my mother's friend. Everything you see is edible and hand crafted. This cake also got rave reviews for the chocolate fudge cake with Peppermint Fudge filling.
