Feeling like a kid again...

Sometimes when working on a cake, I have so much fun it's like being a kid again. Which isn't a real far stretch because my husband says I never really grew up. he he I really LOVE letting it all hang out and having fun with my kids. So this cake was a very enjoyable project. The two little guys in the back seat are twin boys, the cakes recipients that were celebrating their 1st Birthday. Of course you can guess the theme of the party! And what child (big or little) doesn't love all those amazing books written by Dr. Seuss.

This was a moist vanilla cake with buttercream filling.

Retirement Cake

This is a Retirement Cake that was made for an Obstetrics Doctor in Burlington, NJ. I had fun creating all the tiny details for this cake. From the design on the mother's hospital gown to the forceps on the table, each piece was made with care.

To get a closer look at each photo, just click on it and a larger image will pop up. Click your back button to go back to the original post.

My husband told me that the only problem with this cake is that the mother looks WAY too good for just having delivered a baby. ha ha ha He's right you know... but really, who wants to see the ugly side. We'll call this the romanticized version of baby delivery. *wink*

TCC Cupcakes at a Dee Adcock for Congress Open House.

My parents have known the Adcock's for years and many people in the local community have shopped at Adcock Pool Supply. Adcock is a well known name in Bucks and Montgomery County. Dee Adcock is currently campaigning to be elected into the 13th Congressional District. When a friend asked about getting cupcakes for an open house to support Dee, I was thrilled to help.

These are seriously patriotic cupcakes. The cake itself is layered in Red, White, and Blue using Red Velvet Cake, White Almond Sour Cream (WASC) Cake, and Blue WASC. Then they are swirled with buttercream and topped with a little sparkle along with red and blue stars.

A Tail Waggin' Grooms Cake

Here is a grooms cake for a client. The dog is modeled after the client's pet. Wedding bands sit on the pillow.

White Almond Sour Cream cake with Raspberry filling (home made of course!) Cake is iced in buttercream and covered in fondant.

I airbrushed the base of the cake with doggy spots before applying the design. It adds a little dimension and brings the pet down into the cake a little more.

As a grooms cake, I went with the colors in the dog to keep it "manly".

Happy Caking!

An elegant wedding cake with simple, clean lines.

Such a romantic and pretty wedding cake. The color swatches she gave me match the blue and fuchsia flowers. She also asked for white roses. The bride LOVES flowers so she asked that it have lots of flowers. I used a riser between the 2nd and 3rd tiers so I could put a ring of roses around the cake. It worked out beautifully as it was just tall enough to accommodate the size of the larger flowers.

Believe it or not, this picture is the UNFINISHED cake. It also has a topper, a 16" high stand, and a fountain. I'll add the FINISHED photo shortly.

Little Monkey Gift Box Baby Baptism Cake

It was a busy weekend. Here's the 3rd of 4 cake orders this weekend. The inspiration came from a cake I did for this client's friend a while back and the bedding in the baby's room. We combined the monkey with the gift box and the result is even cuter than I had imagined. I love it when an idea comes together.

SYR Graduation Cake

This is a graduation cake for a Syracuse University Student. Well, technically I don't know if it is a high school graduation and the graduate is going to SYR or if this is a college graduation from SYR. Either way... *wink* You get the idea!

A couple of cake toppers for this weekend.

Yesterday was a very busy day. I worked on cake details from morning to night. Here are 2 of the pieces I worked on yesterday.

The first is for a baby shower cake and the topper matches the invitation.

The second is a cake topper for a graduation cake.

I'm really happy with how they both turned out but I have to admit I'm partial to the bassinet. I just LOVE how cute it turned out.

Don't forget to enter the drawing for the apron. Contest ends tonight at midnight EST. All you have to do is comment on the Apron Post and tell me why you want one. :)

Have a super sweet day!
