Happy Birthday Mom!

My mom's 61st Birthday is tomorrow and she loves pound cake with buttercream icing. It's her all time favorite. I recently found an incredible pound cake recipe that is beyond melt in your mouth good!!! I gave her a taste last week and she decided there was no other cake she'd rather have to celebrate her 61st!

She told me just cake with icing smeared on it would be good. BUT you know me! Even though I started icing this cake at 10:30pm tonight, I had to make it pretty! So... it's a little nicer than just pound cake with icing.

Here's a link to the recipe if you are so inclined to try making it. I made it for company this past weekend with a homemade blueberry topping and garnished with whipped cream. That's MY favorite way to eat it! http://www.recipezaar.com/The-Most-Ultimate-Buttery-Cream-Cheese-Pound-Cake-78552

Gotta love a simple round tip when you want a quick freehand design. Happy Birthday Mom!!!

Ben 10 Birthday Cake

This was a tricky one. Marble Cake with Buttercream Icing. Frozen Buttercream Transfer. This is for the son of a man that works with my husband. Apparently the local bakeries don't do Ben 10 yet.

Happy Birthday Aidan!

July 4th - Independence Day Cake

Made this cake for the 4th of July celebration at my friend's house. It's been years since the old gang from high school got together so it was a very special occasion. I really enjoyed getting together with everyone and where there is a celebration... there must be cake!!!

I used Swiss Meringue Buttercream for this cake. It's so light and fluffy. The cake is a sinfully delicious chocolate cake with 2 cups of mini chocolate chips in the mix. Chocolate covered strawberries surround the cake. The blue glitter turned everyone's teeth blue while they were eating. Thankfully the color was very short lived and we all returned to a healthy pink within minutes of finishing.

Mom's 60th Birthday Cake

This is my favorite cake to date. It took forever but was a blast and turned out really well. It's a chocolate cake with mint chocolate chip filling. Iced in butter cream with fondant accents. Figures and accent details are all made of fondant and gum paste. There are a few support pieces that are not edible. Mom loved it!
